This teenager is sensitive and needs to learn how to survive in adult society. He went through many setbacks, but finally succeeded in the process of growing up. The teenager, named Charlie, excelled academically and was well-liked by everyone. Socially, however, he's always been awkward, making him the poster child for being a wallflower. No matter what the occasion, he always watched other people silently, becoming an outsider.
Until one day, two friendly high school students included him in their circle of protection. Together they experience a new friendship, first love, and budding sexual knowledge with Charlie. While frantically enjoying life at parties and midnight shows, Charlie's English teacher introduces him to a wondrous world of literature, igniting his dream of becoming a writer.
Through this series of experiences, Charlie has become more confident and mature. He is no longer the helpless teenager, but has real friendship and love, and a dream of self-fulfillment. He goes from being a wallflower to a graceful, humorous, compassionate young man who learns how to survive in the adult world.
