Stephen is an official of the British Conservative Party. He lives happily with his wife Ingrid, son Martin and youngest daughter Sally. Comfortable life. However, at a banquet, Stephen met Martin's new girlfriend Anna, and the two fell in love. Anna told everyone at the banquet celebrating Martin's promotion that her brother Aston committed suicide because of his love for her. Anna later confessed to Stephen that Aston died because he fell deeply in love with her.
Anna and Martin meet secretly at a hotel in Paris, and Stephen leaves the meeting in Brussels to meet Anna. Anna and Stephen have a one-night stand. However, on the night Martin and Anna announced their engagement, Stephen slipped into Anna's bedroom and was caught by Sally. On the eve of their son's wedding, Stephen and Anna had their last secret meeting in the apartment, but Martin accidentally discovered them and unfortunately fell from upstairs to his death.
After learning the truth, Ingrid left Stephen angrily. Stephen, resigned from all duties, lives alone in a small town in France, staring blankly at a zoomed-in photo of himself, Anna, and Martin together.
