《一触即发》讲述一名金融分析师杰克发现了自己所在公司的老板维克多一起计划颠覆美国经济的阴谋，正义感爆棚的杰克在CIA老将的招募下，摇身一变成为外勤特工，前往莫斯科执行特殊任务，但是在一次意外事件中，他的未婚妻凯西发现了自己的身份。
杰克原本是一名在读的博士生，他为了实现自己的报国理想，加入了美国陆战队，在一次执行任务的过程中负伤，然后回到美国本土，开始继续完成自己的学业，并担任 一 家银行的金融分析师一职。有一次工作的过程中，杰克意外发现自己老板的邪恶计划，在哈勃的带领下，杰克不得不重新恢复自己的身份，为了拯救国家危机而只身前往莫斯科，破坏老板维克多的计划，他的未婚妻凯西也通过丈夫暴露出来的蛛丝马迹，意外发现自己丈夫的身份。
