1935年5月份，中国红军决定进军川西北，而国民党政府领导人蒋介石想要靠着大渡河，这一天闲成功的去剿灭红军，在红军陷入到威胁存亡的关键时刻，中国共产党的军委命令军队夺取大渡河的渡口，五一军团付出了极大的牺牲之后，最终成功的拿到了安顺场渡口，然而在渡口中却没有几艘渡船，这也让红军想要成功的跳出蒋介围的包围圈，不得不去夺取渡河上的泸定桥，在夺取泸定桥时，红一军团和红二军团成为了部队的先锋军团接收到了只起成功不许失败的任务，这两只军团的22名突击队员最终成功将泸定桥成功夺下。
