"42 Years Old" tells the story of 41-year-old Christine on the road to happiness. She is on holiday on the beautiful Italian island of Ischia with her husband and teenage daughter. However, it is there that she has an identity crisis due to the arrival of her former love and his wife
Christine has been living an ordinary and stable life, but deep down in her heart she has been longing to find more happiness and self-identity . When she came to Ischia with her family, the beautiful surroundings and peaceful atmosphere seemed to give her a chance to re-examine herself. However, fate arranged an unexpected encounter.
The long-lost ex-lover and his wife appear in Christine's life, confusing and shaking her. As Kristen begins to question her choices and path in life, she begins to recall her youthful dreams and passions. This past love is intertwined with real responsibilities, which makes her feel bound and uneasy.
