"Dark War (National)" is a Hong Kong drama film starring Andy Lau, Lau Ching Wan, Meng Jiahui and Li Zixiong Wonderful performance, directed by Johnnie To. The film tells the thrilling story between a policeman and a thief within 72 hours.

Hua (played by Andy Lau) is suffering from cancer, only four Thief of the week life. He robbed a financial company, took away a priceless diamond, and took hostages. He Shangsheng (played by Liu Qingyun) is a newly transferred civilian police officer and a negotiator. He rushed to the scene, hoping to persuade Hua to surrender, but Hua wanted to play a seventy-two-hour game with him and threatened to escape after that, which made He Shangsheng very angry.

In the process of fleeing, Hua encountered a police roadblock, so he kidnapped Liang Wanting (played by Meng Jiahui) pretended to be a couple in order to deceive others and successfully escaped danger. The chance encounter left a deep impression on Hua and Liang Wanting.

The 72-hour game begins when a nail is sent to He Shangsheng. Hua used He Shangsheng to let him break into the financial company at night, but he was fooled by Hua. It turned out that Hua had been monitoring He Shangsheng, and used his actions to implement a jewelry robbery plan against Chen, the mastermind behind the transportation company next door to the finance company. With the help of He Shangsheng, Hua tuned the tiger away from the mountain, pretended to be Chen, successfully captured the gem from Chen's hands and fled the scene. During the investigation, He Shangsheng discovered that Chen was suspected of smuggling jewelry and had betrayed Hua's father many years ago. In order to avenge his father, Hua came back from England to look for Chen. In order for Hua to be punished by law, He Shangsheng had to agree to cooperate with Hua to deal with Chen.

During the cooperation process, the Chinese man disguised himself as a woman and used his resourcefulness to win Chen Chen was also arrested by the police because of Hua's ingenious plan. However, while He Shangsheng was waiting in the car, he was deceived by Hua again and had to admit that he had lost. In the end, the Children's Cancer Foundation received a donation of 20 million yuan, and Hua disappeared without a trace.
