In Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, the life of a 13-year-old boy Nadal is not going well. He faced annoying skin diseases, the pressure of his parents' impending divorce, and his clumsiness and shyness when facing girls. These problems were especially difficult and lengthy when he was just entering adolescence. He felt suffocated by the oppressive atmosphere of the Jewish community in Montevideo, but this environment allowed director Federico Virogi to truly outline the world of youth growing up
Unlike many teen comedies, Nadal, the protagonist of "First Kiss", does not have many obstacles in his first sexual encounter. Because of his wealthy family, he and a group of hairy boys often visit brothels. However, what Nadal desires most in his heart is not those superficial experiences, but to really kiss a girl and express his feelings in an affectionate and sincere way.
Through Nadal's perspective, the film profoundly shows the exploration and struggle of adolescence. On the road of growth, he constantly faced the conflict between self-perception and external expectations. Nadal grew up in the traditional and conservative environment of the Montevideo Jewish community, which made him feel constrained and at a loss. However, his inner desire and enthusiasm made him work hard to transcend these shackles.
