白色恐怖时期是台湾历史上一个黑暗而煎熬的阶段，政治环境紧张，言论受到严格控制。在这个时代，追求民主和自由的行动往往被当作叛乱罪行，而参与其中的人常常会遭到严厉的迫害和惩罚。
"The Secret of the Banana Plantation" is a movie with moving plot and profound historical background. The story happened in the summer vacation of 1979. The heroine Meng Juan (played by Chen Yu) invited her college classmate Shulan (played by Liu Qianyu) to come to her family's banana garden to help harvest. In the scorching sun in the banana plantation, the two began an ambiguous and innocent friendship, and unconsciously, the bond between them became deeper and deeper
Meng Juan and Shulan were college classmates, and they had similar pursuits—to speak out for freedom and human rights. Therefore, they went to Formosa Magazine together to actively participate in voice-out actions, hoping to fight for more rights and freedoms for the people. However, precisely because of this pure pursuit, they did not realize that they were stepping into the vortex of white terror.
The period of white terror was a dark and tormented period in Taiwan's history, with a tense political environment and strict controls on speech. In this era, the pursuit of democracy and freedom is often treated as a crime of rebellion, and those who participate in it are often severely persecuted and punished.
