Black Telephone is a horror film based on the short story of the same name by Joe Hill. The film tells the story of young Finney who is kidnapped and imprisoned in a basement stained with the blood of six other murdered children. He saves himself through a telephone that connects him to the underworld.

The background of the story is set in a small town in Colorado, USA in 1978. Finney is an ordinary teenager there, living a dependent life with his sister Gwen and his irascible father Terrence, whose mother died early in life.

However, there were five consecutive cases of missing children in the small town, each Black balloons were left at the scene of the crime as markers of the crime. Unexpectedly, Finney became the next target of the kidnappers. When Finney woke up, he found himself imprisoned in the basement, and there was a broken antique telephone on the wall. Surprisingly, the phone rang.

The voices of the kidnapped children came from the other end of the phone. Brutally murdered by kidnappers. However, the kids decided to use their powers to help Finney escape over the phone. They impart key information and guidance to Finney, helping him solve mysteries and find a way to escape.
