影片的背景是在五代十国。在这个年代，各国之间的战火连绵不断，后蜀国力较弱频频遭受西域各国的入侵，后蜀平凡孤独女孩花千骨，接受重重的考验，最终成为了长流门派掌门白子画的徒弟。双方的年龄相仿，像师傅又像是朋友。后续为了阻止西域各国对后蜀的战争，花千骨为了自己的师傅和国家的平静。最终将辛苦寻来的神器销毁，阻止了战争的到来，为整个蜀国换来了太平盛世。
