During the Yongzheng period, General Nian Gengyao was given to death by Yongzheng because of his great achievements. Chang Yugang (played by Guo Liang), who admired General Nian, pretended to be Nian Ji and Nian Xiafei, the sons and daughters of the Nian family, were rescued by death. The two children each wore a jade butterfly as a proof of meeting in the future. Nian Xiafei fell off a cliff while escaping, and was rescued by Wudang disciple Jing Gu (played by Yan Lili). With the help of monk Huikong (played by Cui Yi), Chang Yugang took his halberd to the South Shaolin Temple, where Yugang also became a monk
In the thirteenth year of Yongzheng, the emperor learned that the descendants of the Nian family were still alive, so he sent Guan Pingshan and Prince Suren ( Hong Tao) tracked down. Su Ren's daughter Tingyu (played by Yang Fengyi) studies in Wudang, and becomes a sister of the same school as Nian Xiafei. Su Ren pretends to accept Xia Fei as a righteous daughter and uses her to work for the Qing court. After learning his identity, Nianji (played by Zhang Shaocheng) sneaks into Suwang's mansion to take revenge, but is repelled by Tingyu and Xiafei.
Suren learned that Nian Ji was hidden in Southern Shaolin, so he took Ting Yuxia to encircle and suppress it. An old monk told about the life experiences of Xiafei and Nianji. Tingyu hates her father's evil deeds and expresses her willingness to advance and retreat with Xiafei and others. Su Ren was stabbed by Guan Pingshan's poisonous knife during the fight. Tingyu Xiafei and others worked together to kill Guan Pingshan, and were finally forced to go to sea.
