"The Deer and Ding Tale" is a TV series of martial arts in costume launched by Hong Kong TVB, with 45 episodes in total. The play is adapted from the martial arts novel of the same name by Mr. Jin Yong. It is directed by Li Tiansheng, written by Chen Jingyi, and starring actors such as Chen Xiaochun, Ma Junwei, Liang Xiaobing, Chen Shaoxia and Liu Yucui.
This drama takes the social history of the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty as the background and tells the story of A young man named Wei Xiaobao who was born in a poor family but experienced legendary stories. Wei Xiaobao is played by Chen Xiaochun. He is quick-witted and flexible. He lived with his mother in a brothel in Yangzhou since he was a child. Because he accidentally learned the secrets in the palace, he was forced to pretend to be a little eunuch and stay in the palace. Later, he helps the young emperor Kangxi (played by Ma Junwei) eliminate treacherous ministers, and the two become close friends. And Wei Xiaobao inadvertently became the disciple of the chief rudder of the Tiandihui, and was asked to assassinate Kangxi, which made him fall into a dilemma.
