The movie "American Girl" is written and directed by Ruan Fengyi, starring Lin Jiaxin, Zhuang Kaixun, Fang Yuting and others. The drama will be released in Taiwan, China on December 3, 2021. The film tells the touching story of Lily, who immigrated to the United States and returned to Taiwan due to illness. Facing the conflict of life experience and cultural differences, she gradually found a way out of life through a female perspective.

The story happened in 2003. Lily, who had lived in the United States for five years, suffered from breast cancer. She brought her two daughters, Fang Yi and Fang An, back to the new store in Taiwan to reunite with her husband Zong Hui who had been estranged for many years. Fang Yi suffered a serious decline in her grades in school due to her Chinese barrier, and was dubbed "American Girl" by her classmates. Such a title made her feel helpless and longed to return to the United States.
