刘小怜与丁格尔两人从小一起长大而且情同手足。虽然不是亲姐妹但是却胜似姐妹，丁格尔在考大学期间因为一次意外而错过了面试，所以与刘小怜两个一起在一家职业卫校进行上学。两人毕业之后又被分在了同一家医院，这家医院的科室主任郝湘宁的儿子吴南看上了刘小怜，所以对她展开了疯狂的追求。刘小怜和吴南已经走到了即将结婚的地步，而吴南的前女友阿蒙在一次意外受伤当中，被送进了这家医院，吴南为了救自己前女友所作所为让刘小怜感到十分伤心。她决定最终和吴南两人进行分手。分手之后刘小怜与自己之前追求她的退伍军人夏天两人进行结婚，但是却因为怀孕一事而让两人束手无策。
