故事开始时描述了在玉龙雪山脚下的古城，丽江是西北各族人民的落脚之处，而丽江的中心是百年不动摇的木氏家族的府邸，木氏家族的侍女天真聪明，坚韧又善良，她潜伏在木府有十年之久，在她的心中有着重要的目标。她一家人都被木府杀害，当时只有她和她的舅舅顺利逃脱，舅舅为了报仇也让这个小女孩混到木府里面，希望她能够获得木府重要人物的信任，当有朝一日卷土重来，两个人里应外合，也将这将近200年的府邸在一场战争中毁掉，而大土司的妻子察觉到女孩的不对劲，一直注意着她的一举一动。
