《乒乓球》讲述了一个哲学系的男大学生，他是一个非常喜欢压抑自己情感的人，同时性格又极其的内向，在一次偶然的机会，他认识了一个曾经受到过被约会暴力的女孩，并且对这个女孩产生了爱慕之心，但是这个女孩对当前男生非常的生疏，在被女孩冷漠的拒绝之后，这名男孩没有办法克制自己内心较为郁闷的心情
随后他又遇到了曾被女孩伤害过的一个露营者，这两人总是在附近的小河边散步，这个人身患绝症，他的脑袋里长了一个类似于乒乓球大小的肿瘤，所剩的时间并不多了，这两个人因为拥有相同的感情经历，所以聊得非常投机，也正是因为如此，这两个人在不断的聊天沟通中，获得了彼此之间的内心安慰。也让这两名男士在沟通之中获得了内心的共鸣。
