"Under the Sun" is a drama film directed by Liang Ming and starring Lu Xingchen, Wu Xiaoliang, Wang Jiajia and other actors. The film premiered at the Pingyao International Film Festival in 2019 and was screened at the China Art Film Exhibition Alliance on November 27, 2020. From the perspective of a young girl named Guxi, the movie presents a past full of loss and awakening that happened in a small border town in northern China in 1999.

Guxi is a young girl who is facing unemployment due to lack of household registration. She struggled to find social connections to handle her status, and at the same time had to adapt to her brother Gu Liang's new girlfriend Qing Chang. As the cold winter comes, the relationship between Gu Xi, Gu Liang and Qing Chang becomes dangerous and ambiguous as the temperature drops. However, at this time, another danger is quietly growing. A floating corpse on the sea and a mysterious tape make Gu Xi wander repeatedly on the edge of youth and adulthood. Little did she know that she was about to lose everything.

In the film, Gu Xi's growth path is full of twists and turns and challenges. Facing the trouble of identity and employment pressure, she tried to find her place in the increasingly complex society. This kind of confusion and struggle is experienced by many teenagers, and Guxi has become a representative in the movie. Her growth process resonated with the audience and also triggered thinking about the exploration of adolescence.

The arrival of Gu Liang and Qing Chang plunged Gu Xi into emotional chaos . She tried to accept this new member, but she couldn't help but feel her own anxiety and fear of the unknown. The floating corpses and mysterious tapes in the film are the suspense elements in the story. They bring Gu Xi more doubts and confusion.
