影片主要以华丽斯底里的医生而展开，华丽斯底里是出生在索马里沙姆的一名小女孩。在她三岁的时候就被迫接受了非洲地区极其惨无人道的女性割礼这一行为。12岁的时候，他的父亲又用5头骆驼将他嫁给了已经60岁的一名老年人。华丽斯迪丽不干这种生活，一是在沙漠中开始进行了逃婚。在逃婚的过程中差一点丢失了自己的性命，后来逃到伦敦是被好心的马利莲收留。在打工的时候遇到了极其著名的摄影师唐纳森，在唐纳森的帮助下最终成为世界顶级名模，将自己的一生投诉放于妇女解放事业之中。
