"Concrete Garden" is a film about the tragic experience of a British suburban family. At the beginning of the story, the family moved into a black apartment, but fate played a cruel joke on them. My father died suddenly while repairing the yard, and my mother fell ill as a result, getting worse every day
In order not to let her four children be picked up by welfare agencies, the mother insisted not to go to the hospital, but such a choice made her condition worse. In the end, the mother passed away, leaving the four children to face the cruel reality alone.
After both parents died, the responsibility and burden of the family fell on the eldest son Jack and the eldest daughter Julie. They had to face the difficult task of raising their younger siblings. With no one to guide them, they had to rely on themselves and rely on each other to survive.
In order to cover up the fact that their mother died, Jack and Julie secretly buried her body in cement. Such behavior may be out of helplessness, but it also reflects their deep attachment to their families and their inability to accept reality.
