这部电视剧所讲述以三个海军陆战队的士兵视角展现的太平洋战场。电视剧中所展示的战争情节也包含了美军在太平洋战争之中最重要的战役
1942年，美军陆战第1师占据了瓜达尔卡纳尔岛，并占领了岛上的机场，也拉开了太平洋之战对日大反攻。三个美军海陆军战队士兵在太平洋上经历了二战时期最惨烈的太平洋战争。这三个士兵分别是莱基、巴斯隆和斯莱治，第3个人的视角展示了整个太平洋战争。在太平洋上日军狂妄对美军展开猛烈进攻期间也有众多自杀式的袭击。
