罗尼特是一名小有名气的摄影师，她过着自由自在的生活，却在某一天收到了令人意外的消息——她的父亲去世了。为了赶回阔别已久的故乡，她踏上了前往纽约郊区的旅程。然而，回到故土的她却意外地重逢了过去的禁恋
多年前，罗尼特因与同性女友艾斯提的恋情被社区驱逐，她们的感情曾因东正教的教规而备受阻碍。这段刻骨铭心的爱情历经时光洗礼，罗尼特和艾斯提在这些年间没有再有过任何联系。
