《西风烈》是高群书作为导演拍摄的剧情片，这部影片是风字三部曲的第二部，是中国首部硬派警匪剧情片，在2010年10月28日国内首映。影片的讲主要内容述四名身怀绝技的西部警察，在中国戈壁无人区千里追凶的一段故事。故事片头西部戈壁公路上，市民正在追踪杀人嫌疑犯的警察在分别之后首次聚首，逃犯张宁为了给自己的女友挣钱一直在打黑拳，后续接下了一桩暗杀的买卖，在与四名警察的交涉下，愿意交出偷拍幕后黑手的照片，但是要去已释放经怀孕的女友。
在这个时候幕后黑手派出了两名职业杀手，前往西部荒漠暗杀张宁，三方在西部荒漠当中狭路相逢，张宁和他手中的照片成为了警察与幕后黑手争夺的焦点之物。在双方的纠缠之下张宁被两个杀手劫走，面对两个杀手的严刑拷打仍旧是没有吐露半点风声，最终在这个戈壁滩上罪恶和公正开始了角逐。
