影片主要讲述一处宛如仙境的世外桃源，是由于其山峰上插着的一柄太阳神剑所吸收的日月精华而成，突然有一天，为拯救被困于恶魔岛的鬼怪们的鬼王闯入了桃花源，夺取宝剑后还将桃太郎的生母杀害，但桃太郎的母亲却在临终前派小仙女将他放入了桃子内得以逃生，随后，一对老夫妇捡到了这个大桃子，并发现了里面的孩子，于是给他取名桃太郎，而此刻，拿到太阳神剑的鬼王开始了为祸人间，天生具有神力的桃太郎也在小仙女的帮助下渐渐成长，最终将于鬼王来场生死较量。
