故事主要讲述了一个脱离现代的奇幻世界。这个世界和现实世界是完全分离的，在电影讲述的世界当中是允许存在妖的，而且妖非常多，贯穿整个生活，在这里面也有捉妖师，捉妖师的日常工作就是抓捕一些流落在外的小妖，但是面对一些超级大妖的时候，往往捉妖师都会忙得手忙脚乱。
故事的主人公天荫和小岚就是两位主要师，并且在寻找小岚父亲的时候意外的找到了江湖当中所追杀的妖王胡巴。35的悬赏金额非常高，刚开始天荫和小岚还想要抓住胡巴一次换换回报酬，但是真正在找到胡巴之后，被胡巴的真诚所感动。2人1妖展开了一系列的逃亡生活，就在这个时候，社会上的诸多事例，例如捉妖师和妖界联盟都发现了2人1妖，不同的势力针对这三个人开始了围追堵截。
